CLAY DAYS
Clay Days is an active studio space at SOMArts Cultural Center. The program started in 2015 with the idea of radical access - operating as a drop-in class for $5 per session, participants were given all materials necessary for a full ceramic practice. We wanted to provide resources with as few barriers as possible, and resist the reaction to say “no” or “that won’t work” to artists’ ideas. All skill levels are welcome, and experimentation is highly encouraged.
Since then, the program has changed shape into a more consistent and dedicated group of makers. Clay Days has held group exhibitions and become an informal artist collective that has sparked various collaborative projects.
